“It is our responsibility to better our ecosystem and ensure that we are releasing our films in a healthy environment,” read the statement issued by the guild.
The Telugu film industry has been in a sad state of affairs post-Covid, owing to various issues like rising production costs, poor revenues, lousy content and ticket prices.
Meanwhile, the guild members are likely to share their opinions with the Telugu Film Chamber of Commerce in a meeting scheduled for Wednesday, 27 July.
When contacted, Telugu film producer Suresh Babu told South First that almost all the producers shared their views on the issues during a series of meetings held recently.
“Given the scenario, we felt that stalling the shootings would help us all come together to assess the situation and deliberate over the issues before arriving at solutions. We are brainstorming on hefty remunerations, OTT releases, ticket prices, payments to staff, cost of production and other aspects. The final call will be taken soon,” he said.
“It’s no secret that Covid-19 took a heavy toll on everyone in the industry – producers, distributors, actors, technicians and workers. We are yet to find ways to cope with the after-effects. These problems only added to the woes. At the end of the day, we believe that if rules are to be made, they have to be in favour of everyone,” he added.
