Telangana minister KTR said the state gets back only 46 paise for every rupee it gives to Centre and quipped, 'Madam, time to put up a banner that says Thanks to Telangana in all BJP states'.
A day after Nirmala Sitharaman lectured Kamareddy District Collector Jitesh V Patil and villagers about how the Union government spends a lot on ration shops and insisted that photos of Prime Minister Narendra Modi be placed in PDS outlets, the Union finance minister was criticised for acting as the PM’s publicity agent.
KT Rama Rao, the Telangana minister for IT, municipal administration and urban development, and industry and commerce, said that Telangana gets back only 46 paise for every rupee it gives to the Centre.
“Madam, time to put up a banner: ‘Thanks to Telangana’ in all BJP states at PDS shops,” he quipped on Twitter.
Sitharaman is in Telangana in her capacity as leader of the saffron party, and not as Union finance minister.
Her visit is part of the party outreach programme under which senior ministers have to spend time in certain assigned constituencies.
Earlier, Union External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar had spent three days in Kerala as part of the same programme.
Since our FM is going around lecturing on how “Modi Sarkar” is the Giver
Here are the facts & figures?
For every Rupee that Telangana contributes to the Nation, we only get back 46 paisa!

Even senior party colleague Subramanian Swamy called it the “most shameful display of chumchagiri”.
Nirmala Sitharaman fumes at absence of PM Modi’s picture at Telangana PDS shop https://t.co/jHPx6yLKVa: Most shameful display of chumchagiri. At most she could have written to the Minister in charge of PDS complaining about the non display of Modi photo.

Meanwhile, TRS social media convenor Krishank satisfied the Union minister’s request by sharing a video with the prime minister’s photo pasted on gas cylinders, whose prices have been constantly rising.

Twittter was awash with comments about her “rude” behaviour with District Collector Jitesh V Patil who was accompanying her, when the latter, to one of her queries, replied that he did not know what the share of the Centre was in the cost of the subsidised rice being distributed to the beneficiaries.
His reply made Sitharaman fly off the handle and she asked him to find out how much it is and get back to her immediately.
KTR also responded to Sitharaman’s “unruly conduct”.
I am appalled by the unruly conduct of FM @nsitharaman today with District Magistrate/Collector of Kamareddy
These political histrionics on the street will only demoralise hardworking AIS officers
My compliments to @Collector_KMR Jitesh V Patil, IAS on his dignified conduct ?

FinMin Nirmala Sitharaman acts like Minister of Prime Ministerial publicity. She asks Kamareddy (Telangana) collector why there’s no image of Modi at a fair price shop in Kirkur mandal. This effort to make every free grain appear to emerge from Modi’s own granary must end!

The real Q for the Finance Minister is NOT how the subsidised rice is funded. The real Q is WHY under your economic (mis)management more and more people have to fall back on free food grain handouts.

Modi is a king and king distribute free food.
That’s the message they want to spread.
