Celebrations at O Paneerselvam’s residence in Chennai after HC Order

AIADMK leader O Paneerselvam’s (OPS) supporters celebrate after Madras High Court orders. The High Court ordered status quo on the party’s affairs. This means OPS will continue to be the AIADMK Coordinator and his expulsion from the party would be invalid.

As per the court order, the appointment of EPS as the interim general secretary of the AIADMK will also become invalid. The court ruled that the AIADMK General Council can only be convened by the party coordinator, OPS, and joint coordinator, EPS.

This comes as a huge relief for OPS and a massive setback for EPS. Both leaders have been engaged in a bitter leadership tussle. While OPS’ camp is elated, EPS and his supporters are mulling challenging the order.
