Rajya Sabha MP and senior Congress leader Mallikarjun Kharge was on Wednesday, 19 October, elected as the new president of the Indian National Congress.
The veteran politician will helm the grand old party and many are hopeful that he will steer the Congress on a path of revival.
Kharge remained the favourite as his contender, Thrivuvananthapuram MP Shashi Tharoor, lost by a considerable margin of votes.
