Telangana Education Minister Sabitha Indra Reddy distributes ‘Aasara’ pensions

Telangana Education Minister Sabitha Indra Reddy, on Wednesday, 21 September, distributed ‘Aasara’ pensions to beneficiaries at Saroornagar in Hyderabad. The pension is given to senior citizens, widows, the Goud community, elephantiasis patients, AIDS afflicted people, physically disabled, handloom workers, and beedi workers.

Reddy said that under the scheme, 46 lakh beneficiaries have been given pensions of ₹3,016 since 2016. She added the government is providing another 9,000 beneficiaries with pension documents of the scheme. Attacking Bandi Sanjay Kumar and his padayatra, Reddy alleged that BJP-ruled states are only providing ₹500-₹600 as pensions.
